I’m Ms Flora, and I’m so pleased to introduce myself and this space where I’ll be sharing insights, tips, and advice from my many years of working with children and families. Originally from the UK, I grew up in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside, surrounded by fields, trees, and endless fresh air. Despite my rural beginnings, I soon found myself drawn to city life, moving to London for my Montessori training and working in the school environment before eventually making a bold leap to Hong Kong, where I have now lived for nearly 11 years.

Throughout my career, I have worked as a teacher, nanny, tutor, and babysitter, supporting children of all ages in both academic and personal development. I’ve had the privilege of working in schools, and homes, and even travelling across the UK, France, and Spain to support families. It has been an incredible journey, and each experience has deepened my understanding of children’s learning and well-being.

This blog allows me to combine two of my greatest passions: writing and inspiring children and families. Over the years, I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge that I would like to share with you. Whether you're a parent looking for ways to support your child at home, a caregiver seeking new ideas, or an educator eager to implement fresh strategies, you’ll find practical advice, creative activities, and tried-and-tested methods here.

So, what can you expect from my blog?

  1. Practical Learning Tips

Education is more than just what happens in a classroom. I’ll share ideas on how to make learning fun and engaging at home, from simple activities that build foundational skills to creative ways to enhance language, maths, and problem-solving abilities. You don’t need expensive resources—sometimes, the best learning tools are right in your home!

  1. Building Confidence and Independence

A huge part of my work has been helping children develop personal skills such as confidence, independence, and self-esteem. I’ll offer guidance on small, everyday changes that can make a big difference in your child’s mindset and abilities, from encouraging responsibility in daily tasks to fostering resilience and a positive attitude towards challenges.

  1. Advice on Behaviour and Well-Being

Every child is unique, and so is their behaviour. Whether you’re dealing with tantrums, struggles with social skills, or bedtime battles, I’ll be sharing insights into child development and strategies to support your little one in a way that works for your family.

  1. Montessori and Early Years Insights

As a trained Montessori educator with nearly two decades of experience, I’m a firm believer in the Montessori philosophy and its benefits. I’ll be breaking down Montessori principles in a practical way, showing you how to incorporate them into your home, even if your child isn’t attending a Montessori school.

  1. Parenting Hacks and Home Environment Tips

Small tweaks in your home environment can make a world of difference to your child’s learning and behaviour. I’ll be sharing simple yet effective ways to create a nurturing, organised, and stimulating space that encourages independence and curiosity.

My journey has taken me from classrooms in London to nannying in different countries, to teaching in a bilingual Montessori kindergarten in Hong Kong, and now to support children and families on a more personal level through tutoring and support sessions. Every step of the way, I have been inspired by the incredible parents, caregivers, and educators I have met, and I am thrilled to share my experiences and knowledge with you.

I’d love to hear from you! If you have any questions, topics you’d like me to cover, or simply want to say hello, please feel free to reach out. This blog is a space for learning, sharing, and growing together, and I can’t wait to start this journey with you.

Thank you for being here, and I look forward to sharing lots of wonderful insights, tips, and tricks with you!
